The existing weir bridge is a critical piece of infrastructure for both transport connectivity and water supply to the Mt Crosby Water Treatment Plants, which supply potable water to over 60% of the Greater Brisbane region.
The heritage listed bridge was built in 1910 and is frequently inundated during flood events and sustains damage both from flood waters and debris. This project aims to duplicate the bridge which will provide greater flood resilience as well as an additional trafficable lane. It is also part of a flood resilience program of works aimed at strengthening water security in the region.
