This week marks a significant week in Australia, National Reconciliation Week – with its call to action for 2024: Now More Than Ever.
Reconciliation is not just a concept - it is a commitment that we have made.
ConnellGriffin is currently providing pro-bono project management support services to METIO to assist in the delivery of new classrooms to a remote Aboriginal community in Punmu, located on the traditional lands of the Martu people.
Punmu is located 640 km southeast of Port Hedland in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia and is one of the most remote Aboriginal communities in Australia. The township is situated in the very heart of Western Australia and the community is perched on the eastern edge of Lake Dora, a giant dry salt-lake that reflects some of the most spectacular desert sunsets.
The project will provide greater flow between indoor and outdoor learning spaces, the facilities will support a two-way learning model where students learn Martu and English, creating safe spaces that students want to learn in.
